About มณฑปรอยพระพุทธบาทจำลอง วัดญาณสังวราราม

Phra Maha Mondop Phutthabat is the Buddha-footprint pavilion on Khao Kaew Hill within Wat Yanasangwararam. The temple describes a 33-metre-high structure built in homage to King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. A pair of Buddha footprints with 108 auspicious designs is enshrined inside. The approach has Naga balustrades and a substantial staircase. The temple’s own architectural guide counts 200 steps. Check that the pavilion and approach are open on the day, and ask the monastery about access arrangements if stairs are difficult for your group.

Inside and around the pavilion

Footprints and disciples

The footprints carry 108 auspicious designs and are surrounded by depictions of the Buddha’s 80 great disciples. Treat the interior as a worship space and follow instructions about shoes and photography.

Mosaics and images

The temple says the golden mosaics were reused from the Phra Si Rattana Chedi at Bangkok’s Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Buddha images stand at the four corners of the mondop.

Plan the ascent

A stair-based approach

The official account describes 200 steps with three-headed Naga balustrades. Allow for the climb and descent, use suitable footwear and avoid attempting the ascent if conditions are unsafe for you.

Opening and assistance

The main monastery’s general opening does not guarantee that this particular building is accessible throughout it. Contact the monastery on 081 586 0188 about current access or assistance.
